Some time ago, Steve Jobs said, "Innovation distinguishes a leader and a follower," and that statement has never been more meaningful than it is today. At a time when even the most basic elements of business success is reevaluated and redefined, one thing became clear: Innovation is no longer a "nice to have," it is a "must have." If innovation is different leaders and followers in the recent past, today more and more different survivors and barely breathing. Innovation is the new Darwinism in business, the choice facing companies today is simple: innovation, or fail

Three not-so-easy choice

Today, companies face three choices. In many cases, one can easily do.

1 Active innovation. Stay on the forefront of their industry and the competitive set, doing everything necessary to meet evolving market conditions and consumer demand.

2 React. Wait for others to set standards and to play catch-up, forever scrambling corresponds to recent developments introduced by market leaders.

3 Do nothing. Stay where they do their best to survive, and almost certainly stagnate, eventually drifting into irrelevance, and ultimately, extinction. Innovate or perish.

Innovation Individual

By the way, innovation is imperative not only apply to businesses, it is a challenge for individuals, and, again, even more so today. Each of us who collect (or hopes to collect) a paycheck of at least one consumer, the person responsible for our professional future. Some employees also must continually reassess its approach and to determine their value, or face the same dismal fate as their corporate counterparts. In fact, while we are currently facing an increase in unemployment numbers, still more than 90% of the workforce is still employed. While in many cases, circumstances beyond the control of individuals are responsible, what would that 10% do not, innovative, which could help them make it back in 90 %?
